European Trails Chapter Session at WTC 2026 in Perth

Join us in Perth for the European Trails Chapter Session — for everyone interested in the future of trails in Europe, regional and trans-national collaboration. This in-person session is aimed especially at European delegates, while also welcoming international participants interested in trail developments, cooperation structures, and funding approaches in Europe.

Monday, 19 October 2026 | 15:00–17:00 (Perth time) | Pan Pacific Perth

The session will include a short keynote, workshop-style exchange, and open discussion on what European Trails is building as the European Chapter within the World Trails Network. We will introduce our thematic Project Groups, which bring organizations together around specific trail topics and help turn shared priorities into collaborative projects and funding consortia. We will also share examples from our European Trails Talk webinar series and Funding Projects Workshops on partnerships and trail financing opportunities.

A central part of the session will be our current strategic topics: recognizing trails as essential public infrastructure, improving access to trail funding, and strengthening cooperation across organizations working on health, nature, mobility, tourism, and rural development. We will also highlight our ambition to increase the visibility of official long-distance trails in Europe through a more connected digital trail network.

European Trails is in an active building phase. We are developing structures, projects, and practical opportunities for organizations to contribute. If you want to understand where European trail cooperation is heading and how to become part of it, this session will offer a timely overview and invitation to connect.
